Patience is a virtue, and we all know this for a fact.
However, the question that comes to mind is how often do we subscribe to such
maxim?

Quarantine Thoughts (1) : Slow Down
A very serious global health scare which prompted our government
to lock us all up in our homes has reminded me of one thing - God is telling us
to slow down.

FALLING OUT, AND WHY IT IS REMARKABLE.....
My own humble estimate tells me that numerous articles
have already been written, and continue to be written about the concept of
falling in love. When it comes however, to its uninviting opposite which is
falling out, the same estimate cannot be told.

DILEMMA: Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako?
I delivered my
final lecture for the semester yesterday, and one of the topics I discussed was
the concept of dilemma. So what is a dilemma you might ask?

The Road Back To Love.......
I’ll go straight to the point: the road
back to love is a long and winding one.
It takes a great deal of time to be on
track again. Most especially when for several years your thoughts and emotions
have been conditioned by the heart to aim at just one thing, or one person.

#TheirChristmasHashtag
Since I started blogging in 2011, it has been my tradition every month of December to ask people their thoughts about the holidays, and feature them in this humble blog.
For this year, I am veering away from the usual or commonly asked questions – such as those pertaining to Christmas wishes down to gifts that we would like to receive.

Drifting.......
/drift/
noun
a continuous movement from one place or another
This is just one
of the several definitions of the term “drift.” And I zeroed in on this one, for it
perfectly sets the tone of this current article I am writing.....
Knowingly or unknowingly,
we all have experienced drifting away from something, or from someone. And for
as long we are alive, we will continue to experience such.

8 SIGNS THAT YOU HAVE MOVED ON
So what are the telltale signs that you have already moved on (finally!)?
1. When the name doesn't ring a bell anymore...

Strangers Again.....
We
all start as strangers - precisely because we have nary a clue as to whom we
will bump into. But like a moth to flame, we end up with people. Cheesy or not,
we need people in our lives. We are all situated in an interconnected network
of needs, like it or not. A person has needs that only another person will be able to satisfy.
Hence, we cannot survive by ourselves alone.
Hence, we cannot survive by ourselves alone.

Part of Your World.......
"Sometimes, we wish to be a part of someone else’s
world."
- tweeted by your blogger last December 15
The photos they post and the status updates they
compose give us a peek into their lives – the comings and goings. When they are
sad and blue, we wish to be beside them, to offer a warm embrace, and uplift
them up with words both comforting and reassuring.

A Journey to Healing by Miles Magbanua (guest writer)
December 5, 2012 / National Kidney and Transplant Institute
A year ago today, we received one of the most heart wrenching news of
our lives. After almost 4 months of diagnostic tests to determine what was
causing him severe bone breaking pain, we were finally given the answer. I
remember sitting in front of his doctor, weakly asking, "What does my son
have, Doc?", although deep inside I knew it was something terrible.
Doc answered, "he has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia."

Views About Death.....
The untimely and tragic demise of Hollywood
actor Paul Walker at a very young age of forty has prompted me to write
something about this appalling phenomenon we call death. Of all the things that
can happen to us, death is the most feared of all – whether it is our own death
or that of another person. Death is as common as the sun rising every morning,
or leaves falling from trees. But admit it or not, we have not yet accustomed
ourselves to it. When will we be used to it and comfortable with it? When we are already six feet under the ground I suppose.

The Calm Before the Storm: Their Pre-Yolanda Christmas Wish.....
Christmas
is just around the corner, as we always say whenever the month of December is
fast approaching. The weeks leading to that merry season will see us setting up
our Christmas tree and putting on all the trimmings, hanging colorful lanterns
outside our homes, wrapping gifts for those people who matter to us, and
planning our menu for the holidays (anymore activities?).
The most anticipated season of the year
is capped by something that is very personal and intangible at the same time,
and this is our Christmas wish. Allow me to officially ignite the
spirit of the holidays in us by sharing with you the Christmas wish of some
very interesting personalities. I have mistakenly asked one who does not
celebrate Christmas due to his religion, but his year-ender wish deserves to be included nonetheless.

YOLANDA/HAINAN DIARIES 2 : Are we united or divided?
At
this very crucial period in our country, amidst the suffering of the people in
the Visayas region and relief operations being conducted by our administration,
private individuals and companies, and foreign governments, we must put a stop
to all our bickerings, grandstanding, and blame-passing.
Such acts will not do
us any good.
This is not the time to overly criticize. Rather, this is the time to
be united, and not divided.
With
this, let me share with you a very nice message by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates
Villegas:
candles
to
fight the darkness and gloom.
This is the time to spread inspiration,
to dig
for more hope
and to send off more positive vibes
in the air.”

Somebody Walked Into My Life

But not everybody stays for good. There are
those who will stay only for a while, and therefore leave soon. And the sad
truth is that in some situations, we continue to live life as if they have
never left us, making us cling to the past – like a moth to a flame.
We engross ourselves with both blissful and
hurting memories in the process. The heart remains hopeful that things will be
reverted back to the way they once were. But the swift passage of time and greatening emotional
distance make it not possible anymore.

Acts of Kindness
I am very certain that each one of us has already received acts of
kindness from others at some points in our lives. But we all know that it is
impossible to remember each and every one of them. Luckily, there are some that
are jammed wonderfully in our minds and hearts. Such acts make us smile
whenever we remember them, and smile even more when we remember their
respective doers. In my case, it is quite uncommon that someone will walk an
extra mile for me. It is quite rare for people to literally climb the
proverbial ivory tower and reach out to me. I know that people find me
unapproachable. So why come anywhere near me, much less lend a hand?

Throwback Thursday.....
Every Thursday, expect Facebook to be flooded with pictures of old.
This online phenomenon is appropriately called “Throwback Thursday” (as if you
don’t know!). When this day of the week arrives, I know that many of us are
excited to log on to Facebook to check for such pictures. I don’t know the
story behind this online ritual every Thursday. But if there is one thing that
I know of, then that is the idea that we Filipinos love it to the hilt! This
stems from the fact that we Filipinos are very sentimental beings (and are extremely
fond of taking pictures if I may add).
