SIGNATURE SCENT

During one of our Sunday family lunches at home, I heard an aunt mentioning, in my own words, that it is not a bright idea to give perfume as a present. I think she also mentioned the brand of perfume that she uses or prefers. This instantly gave me an idea or a topic to write about for this humble blog. Unfortunately, it took me this long to make an article about it. Now that I am quite running out of topics, I suddenly remembered this topic which I temporarily shelved.

People have their signature scent. This stems from the fact that we all have our favorite brands of items or commodities. I am one person who will never start the day without dabbing on myself my favorite scent. Do I have a signature scent? There is none actually. Though I can say that my latest or most recent purchase of bottle usually becomes my signature scent, until such time that I am already tired of it. There are times when I switch scents. For special occasions, I currently rely on my Burberry Summer, given to me as pasalubong from abroad (thanks Omid Irankhah!). For everyday use, I have my bottles bought from Ate Bebs, our ever reliable direct selling agent who frequents my office. Recently I have also been using Guess Suede also given by another generous soul (thanks Tim de Leon!).

Regalong Pang-New Year

Wishing something for yourself does not come with a tag price. Since it is free, our minds enjoy the liberty to think of something that we want for ourselves. I asked my friends, colleagues, followers of this blog, and former students as to what they want for themselves for the coming new year. I emphasized though, that it has to be something material or tangible. As such, it must be something that will delight our senses. Forget about world peace for a while, unless you are a mericlone of Ms. Shamcey Supsup. “Hope and peace” said a respondent. I immediately texted her “hindi ka naman sasali sa Miss Universe.”

Majority of my respondents texted me back immediately. It only shows that they are really eyeing something and are dead set on getting it. For the others, it took them some while to respond to my query. Maybe they really thought hard about it. Or maybe they cannot decide immediately since they have a mile-long list of what they want for themselves. “Dami ko kasi gusto e,” a respondent said. As we dwell on things that we want for the coming year, let us not forget to include in our intentions all the families displaced by a recent typhoon, that they will be able to rebuild their lives soon. Happy New Year!
"Ang material na bagay na gusto ko this new year ay novels ni Sydney Sheldon or ni Robin Cook. Puwede din kay Paulo Coelho. Why? Kasi nakakarelax magbasa ng mga ganun."

My WISH LIST

Let me share with you my wish list. Nothing wrong to aspire for the finer things in life. Here they are:

I never had a decent jacket in my whole life for the simple reason that I have never invested on one. Maybe not one of my priorities since I so love the cool weather, and hate too much layering of clothing on me. But if I can get a nice jacket why not. Actually asked one of my interviewees to give me an Armani jacket ha ha!

Wearing white shoes totally changes your look. But don’t wear them just for the heck of it. Make sure that they are well coordinated with your entire outfit, or they will be a disaster! White shoes are nice, most especially if they are a pair of Gucci loafers.

An over-sized watch is truly a conversation piece. A U-Boat watch can definitely rock your outfit. Move over Technomarine, here comes the Boat!

I saw this bracelet at Rustan’s Silver Vault many years ago. Nice combination of black leather strap and silver/white gold. This one is one hell of a Pianegonda. Can’t wear gold every day, right?

An Hermes belt can spice up boring outfit. Love the letter H buckle. Hear me Hermes!

Hope I can af-Ford this Tom Ford shades.

Burberry has this very distinct checkered design of red, beige, and black. Hope to have one someday. Berry nice!

I want a phone that is affordable, simple, and fits nicely inside my pocket. I think my 6600 has seen its better days. C this Nokia C5?

Never thought that black and rose gold are a nice combination. Ang gara nitong Bulgari!

And finally, the PIECE DE RESISTANCE ........

Can you beat this?

Nothing beats having peace of mind. This is what we all want, right? Having a calm mind allows us to put things in their proper perspective. It makes us think well and clearly. I will never trade this for any object in this world. =)
