Just
who is Rocky Ignacio?
The
name figured prominently during one of President Duterte’s press conferences
prior to his inauguration (the one where Mariz Umali was catcalled by Digong no
less).
For
those who are still residing under a rock, Ms. Ignacio is a news anchor of PTV
4.
She
used to be with IBC 13's Sine Silip from 1991 to 1992, and with ABC 5's Stars
on 5 in 1992 (according to Wikipilipinas). She was born on December 27, 1974 and hails from Santiago, Isabela.
Many
are not familiar with the name, since most households are fixated to either ABS
CBN 2 or GMA 7. Ask any person to mention a name of a newscaster and her name I
am certain wouldn’t come out.
As
far as I know, Ms. Ignacio is already a veteran newscaster or reporter. But her
name is yet to gain prominence, as her name is not mentioned in the same manner
of familiarity that the names of our popular newscasters are mentioned.
But
as of late, her name is slowly becoming a byword in the media industry. What
precipitated this was the President choosing government-owned PTV 4 as the
official television station to cover his press conferences (for the meantime
only or for the rest of his administration?).
And
during that infamous press conference that I mentioned above, Ms. Ignacio was
personally handpicked by Digong himself to whom he will relay his messages or
announcements. To quote our President:
“You Rocky Ignacio you come to me
because I have something to say.
Alangan naman ako pag maghanap sayo sa
Malacañang.”
So
in the coming days, expect the name Rocky Ignacio to become a household name,
as she is one of the very few selected media personalities who will be
interviewing the highest official of our land during press conferences.
Congratulations
Ms. Ignacio for you deserve this break in your career.
May
you be able to catch up with those presidential whims and caprices.
I know Rocky personally. We've been talking a lot during media coverage. She is intelligent, yet soft spoken and kind-hearted.
