The
opposition and anti-Duterte people are pulling out all the stops in order to
paint a very negative image of the Sea Games, spreading unsubstantiated news,
and grossly exaggerating every bit of shortcoming by the organizers.
Perhaps,
they know very well that they cannot directly destroy our stubborn and
foul-mouthed leader, and so hence, the Sea Games has become their easy target.
They know that an attack aimed at the games is an attack aimed at Duterte as
well.
There
are two kinds of criticisms. The first type aims to be constructive and
corrective. And what about the second type? It aims to derail, humiliate, and
lay insults. It is very obvious that the latter type is the DNA of the
criticisms tossed left and right by the opposition and anti-Duterte people. Some
of them say that their tirades stem from being makabayan and that they wish for
the success of the games.
Oh
come on, let loose of your masks and enough of the sugar coatings since we are
not convinced. The tirades are all about Duterte.
The
Sea Games should have been an opportunity for us Filipinos regardless of our political
color to be united as one. But sadly, this is pure wishful thinking. For to
begin with, this is such a tall order for a race allegedly laced with crab
mentality.
The
Sea Games is an easy prey of the opposition and anti-Duterte people, and their piece de resistance since they know that
in the event that it will fail, it will fail on an international scale, and the
Duterte government will be the subject of mockery and ridicule in the region.
And
so amidst all the criticisms and divisiveness, let the games begin! And let it succeed.
