DUTERTE SHOULD RESIGN

Yes, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte should resign.

I am thus joining the likes of Loida Nicolas-Lewis, and Black and White movement frontrunners Butch Abad, Dinky Soliman and Leah Navarro in their call for the resignation of our duly elected President.

I am also inviting the greatest Filipino singer and actress our country has ever produced – Agot Isidro to join us in this cause.

If this call for resignation comes into fruition, then members of the Yellow Race – members of the Liberal Party, the CBCP, leaders of UP, Ateneo and La Salle, the oligarchs and all other anti-Duterte groups, will be deliriously happy.

Constitutionally speaking, the heir to the throne will be the Vice President, Maria Leonor Gerona Robredo. However, her ascension must be fast-tracked due to the looming recount of votes for the position of Vice President resulting from the electoral protest filed by her archrival Bongbong Marcos. Otherwise, our dear Leni might be put to the sidelines after the recount, if you know what I mean.

So the hyper millenials must now be given instruction to create their “hugot” placards, as they will join us in reviving the People Power spirit at the Edsa Monument. But they must be allowed first to pass by Starbucks for their macchiato fix, then to either Uniqlo or H & M for their shirt.

And let us not forget the kiddos and nuns at St. Scholastica for they too are invited.

But wait – Duterte’s successor must have the following first:

First, she must have the balls to fight drugs, criminality and corruption. Her beautiful knees I’m afraid, will not be able to thwart those.

Second, she must know how to craft a foreign policy that will truly benefit us, and not one that will make our country a mere shadow of our benefactors.

Third, she must be willing to take the risk of visiting cities or provinces immediately after calamities have hit them, or at once after they have been jolted by terrorist attacks. Corollary to this is she must know how to empathize sincerely with families of the victims.

Fourth, she must know how to earn the trust, confidence and loyalty of all military and police personnel.

Fifth, she must know how to make unpopular decisions that will be for the good of our country, and be able to justify such decisions firmly and until the end of time.

And finally, she must be a brilliant strategist in solving problems and in keeping other problems at bay.

So if Leni Robredo has the above mentioned abilities and qualities, then Duterte can confidently pass the presidential torch to her, pack his things and return to Davao.

RESIGN DUTERTE!

But here is my question: is the Vice President really capable? Does she possess all of the above?

Baka hanggang laylayan pa lang.

  2. If Duterte resigns, It only proves that the Philippines is in the state of hopelessness, wherein we could no longer rise from the ditch we are lying, face down.. we'll just have to wait for the second coming I think.. lol

  3. If the current President of the Philippines resigns, then everything will go back to square one. Where another widow becomes the puppet of the rich. Where another widow becomes a Barbie doll that cannot make her own decisions for the whole land. If, however, the re-count for the seat of Vice Presidency ends up to the result of Marcos being proclaimed as the second highest in command, then the whole country will be seeing things out of the box. Opportunities will be given more frequently to those who live below middle class. The people pining for the Widow will make sure the President lives or else they will say that Mr. Marcos will commit another Martial Law. But there is nothing wrong with having another Marcos in the high offices if it gives certainty to a better future for the whole Philippines. Better to be optimistic.

  4. I am not pro-Duterte, but I believe if he does plan to leave, it should be very gradual and not predictable. Corrupt officials seeking to take advantage of a power vacuum is also no good for our country. I don't agree with most of his decisions, methods or his regular mouth farts, but his followers will see bad things even if they aren't there, might cause chaos.
