SUREXCITER is a French word which means overacting. And this is how I describe the
highly celebrated issue of parent Rosemil Edroso vs. teacher Melinda Limjuco.
The teacher overacted in throwing the kid out of the
classroom for the simple reason that the latter forgot to bring his report
card. Yes, she did provide a chair for her student, but this does not in any
way lessen the gravity of the punishment. The teacher could have simply
reminded the kid to bring his report card the next meeting, as simple as that.
No need for such over the top sanction. And the worst part, it was caught by a
cctv camera.
No physical harm was done, but what about psychological harm since the child had to endure the time being outside of the classroom and to endure as well being seen by my many?
The grandmother and mother tandem overacted by first,
reporting the incident to Raffy Tulfo. They could have reported it instead to
the DEPED division office in their city, where they could have filed a case
against the teacher. But I guess they wanted swift “justice” for their child,
and hence, the decision to go to idol Raffy (ipapa-Tulfo!). Second, by asking
for the revocation of the hard earned license of the teacher. Was Mrs. Limjuco’s
act so atrocious for her to be disbarred from her profession? Was a heinous crime
committed here?
Mr. Tulfo overacted by acting like a judge through his
verdict as to the case. He lawyered for the family by pushing as well for the
revocation of the teacher’s license. He already prejudged the case in my own
estimate. He pushed the case so hard to the extent that Mrs. Limjuco was left with
no option but to accept humiliation and her fate, despite her admission and repeated
public apology.
Mr. Tulfo could have just mediated between the two
parties, or elevated the case to DEPED if no settlement whatsoever has been made.
All characters here overacted.
End of discussion.
