On Pope Francis' Visit to the Philippines : A Friendly Reminder

I know for sure that all Catholics in our country are all keyed up with the upcoming visit of Pope Francis this coming week. Add to that the declaration of a three-day holiday by Malacañang, no less (I guess I am more excited with this one haha).

THE DAY I FELT VALUELESS WITH MY ROBINSONS SUPERMARKET VALUE PLUS CARD

Earlier this afternoon, I did some grocery shopping at the Berkeley Square branch of Robinsons Supermarket along Commonwealth Avenue. To give you a bit of personal history, I’ve been doing most of my grocery shopping there for the last five years or so, since it is conveniently located on the south bound lane of Commonwealth where I pass by everyday on my way home.

In Defense of Dingdong and Marian: WHO CARES?

Just today, this morning to be exact, I read an article shared on Facebook about the recently concluded and much talked-about nuptials of this showbiz “royal couple”. 

To summarize, the writer pointed out that the event was a “blatant display of decadence,” to quote, amidst millions of Filipinos who “struggle to find their next meal every day,” to quote again.

Since I started blogging in 2011, it has been my tradition every month of December to ask people their thoughts about the holidays, and feature them in this humble blog.

For this year, I am veering away from the usual or commonly asked questions – such as those pertaining to Christmas wishes down to gifts that we would like to receive.

On the MMDA Vendor : THE END DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS

The name of this MMDA traffic enforcer and kakanin vendor at the same time must be a household name by now, most especially after his story was featured by Ms. Jessica Soho no less, in her weekender program.

NA-MALIGNO?

It all happened many years ago during a seminar at a resort in Laguna.

A colleague and I accompanied each other to the restroom to answer nature’s defiant call. After we have entered, we searched for urinals but there were none. Instead, what we found were shower cubicles. It was a very odd feeling since it was my first time to be in a restroom without any urinals and toilet cubicles, not even one.

This is just one of the several definitions of the term “drift.” And I zeroed in on this one, for it perfectly sets the tone of this current article I am writing.....

Knowingly or unknowingly, we all have experienced drifting away from something, or from someone. And for as long we are alive, we will continue to experience such.

A Simple Suggestion to Globe

Maybe about 2 months ago, I received a text from an unknown number, informing me that Globe is in the process of upgrading my plan. The instruction further said that I have to text 500 to a certain number, in order to cancel the upgrading.

This local clothing giant prides itself with its annual denim and underwear show. It is deemed as a classy and celebrated event, the reason why many models and celebrities aim to become a part of it.

BLIND ITEM # 4 : Philosopher-Senator

This controversial lady senator did some philosophizing several days ago, upon her mentioning of the catchphrase “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.”

She mentioned this in the wake of an uproar over a very pricey building that was built to the tune of two billion pesos, by the patriarch of her family in an upscale city. Her brother, who now sits as the mayor of that city, described the notorious building as “world-class.”
