BLIND ITEM # 5 : Parade of Flesh

This local clothing giant prides itself with its annual denim and underwear show. It is deemed as a classy and celebrated event, the reason why many models and celebrities aim to become a part of it.

In fact, there is even a so called “go see” held several weeks before the actual event, which is an audition for ordinary Janes and Joes who aspire to walk the runway.

Now what, you might ask.

I simply want all of us to be honest. If ever given the chance, will you watch it because of the denim and underwear that the models will strut on the catwalk, or because of something else?

Now I got you thinking, and I can read your mind.

I perceive this spectacle as nothing but a parade of flesh. In this event, there are only two kinds of people: first, those who are more than willing to show flesh, and secondly, those who want to see flesh.

Forget about all the drama in the jeans and undergarments. All jeans past and present look the same, right? Same thing with underwear. So what is the fuss about such garments?

And what is the show about then?

We all know the answer and there is no room for hypocrisy in this. We know very well what the spectacle is all about, no matter how hard the clothing company tries to camouflage its intention through yes, denim and underwear.
